About Schaumburg, Illinois
The Village of Schaumburg was ranked the Best Place to Live in Illinois by Money magazine in 2018. In 2017, they ranked Schaumburg as the ninth best place to live in the entire United States. Schaumburg is located mostly in Cook County and partly in DuPage County. The Village of Schaumburg was incorporated on March 7, 1956. It's transition from a rural community to a suburban city began in 1959 with Alfred Campanelli's first large-scale suburban development. In 1971 the Woodfield Mall opened in Schaumburg, which is the 10th largest mall in the US. It is also home to one of two IKEA stores in Illinois. It's motto is "Progress Through Thoughtful Planning."
The population of the Village of Schaumburg as of 2020 was 78,723. It is located approximately 10 miles from O'Hare and around 28 miles northwest of the Chicago Loop. Schaumburg is bordered by Inverness in the northwest, Palatine and Hoffman Estates to the north, Rolling Meads to the northeast, Hanover Park to the southwest, Streamwood to the west, Roselle to the south, and Elk Grove Village to the southeast.
